HAGUE – On November 26, The Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice held a public hearing to try the former leader of Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Jiang Zemin, in front of the UN's International Court of Justice in Hague, Netherlands. They submitted documents for a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin from different countries to the leading judge.

In the opening speech, the host addressed the crimes Jiang Zemin committed when he was the leader of the CCP, including violation of human rights, the right of belief and violation of basic human nature.

At the hearing, Ms. Wang Xianghe, a resident of the Netherlands, spoke of how her family of five was persecuted in China because they practice Falun Gong [traditional Chinese practice of meditation and exercises]. Ms. Wang disclosed Jiang’s crimes against humanity, of genocide, brutality and violation of basic human rights. Her five relatives were illegally detained because they practice Falun Gong; including her 80-year-old mother and her teenage nephew.

After the staff at the International Court in Hague heard the case revealing Jiang’s crimes and saw pictures of the brutal persecution, offered suggestions to the coalition on how to improve the case. Several tourists from China, who were seen walking by the hearing, had shocked looks on their faces when they saw the pictures, as these pictures have never been reported to the public in China. Several of the Chinese tourists took pictures at the scene to bring back to China.

The attendees of the hearing came from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and Israel. The Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice in Europe, has also held rallies held in Paris, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne and Berlin.

Recent court filings against Jiang in Illinois, argue that he ordered Falun Gong “eradicated” to pilfer and embezzle large sums of money overseas; to force into submission members of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party whom Jiang regarded as rivals within the party—all against the advisement of the government and overriding the decision of Politburo members.

In addition, former dictator, Jiang Zemin, has been frowned upon by human rights groups all over the world for a long list of infractions: the Tiananmen Square Massacre, the Tibet issue and persecution of the “grass-roots” Christian movement.

Falun Gong (Falun Dafa), introduced in 1992 to China is a practice of meditation and exercises, having roots in traditional Chinese culture. With government estimates of as many as 100 million practicing Falun Gong, China's Communist leader Jiang Zemin outlawed the practice in July 1999. Jiang's regime has intensified its propaganda campaign to turn public opinion against the practice while quietly imprisoning, torturing and even murdering those who practice it. The number of deaths verified due to the persecution has exceeded 800. In October 2001, however, Government officials inside China reported that the actual death toll was well over 1,600.
