Ominous Birthday Gift for the Chinese Communist Regime Back
Xinhua.Net leaks the fact that 11 million people have renounced the CCP

On July 1, 2006, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was celebrating the 85th anniversary of its establishment, Xinhua.Net, the official CCP mouthpiece, leaked the information that the CCP has taken pains for years to hide from the Chinese people: Over 11 million people have resigned from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. This information appeared in the editor's note of a report entitled "Meng Weizai: I will never renounce the CCP!" Although Xinhua issued this article to refute the wave of withdrawals, it in fact confirmed the existence of the withdrawals to people in mainland China.

The Word Is Out

Xinhua.Net leaked information about the 11 million withdrawals in an editor's note it added to an article first publicized in Cnkfun.com. The article said Meng Weizai, former director of Division of Art and Literature in the CCP's Propaganda Department, denied resigning from the CCP, saying, "Communism has been my ideal and goal. I will not betray my goal."

Last year around July 1, when 2.8 million had resigned from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, the CCP made its first official response to the wave of withdrawals. Li Jingtian, the deputy head of the CCP Central Committee's Organization Department, claimed in a press conference, "Some time ago, certain foreign websites reported that thousands of party members resigned their CCP membership, and publicized some resignation statements. This is a false rumor." Li then used the case of Meng Weizai as an example.

Did Meng Weizai Resign?
On December 10, 2004, a statement was issued on a website outside China in the name of Meng Weizai. In the statement Meng introduced himself, "I was born in Hongtong County, Shanxi Province. I am a well known writer and painter, and former head of the People's Literature Publishing House and the People's Art Publishing House…

One day after thee CCP’s statement, a new declaration of Meng Weizai was posted in a website outside China. In this latest statement, Meng condemned Xinhua.Net for fabricating his statement, and pointed out that the CFAL and Xinhua did not dare to mention the fact that Meng practices Falun Gong and has read the Nine Commentaries when they fabricated the so-called "authorized statement."

For the CCP, it is surely not a promising birthday gift. Back

China Exporting Weapons to 'Rogue' Countries Back

By Chen Jingsong

Last month Amnesty International published a report branding the Chinese communist party (CCP) as the "most irresponsible" in the world because it exported dangerous weapons to Burma, Nepal, Sudan, and the Great Lakes region in Africa. Having such weapons has intensified the tensions and conflicts in these regions and directly resulted in an increase in humanitarian disasters.

In the face of such a serious charge, the Chinese communist regime totally denied the charges and maintained that it follows three principles when exporting weapons.

The CCP claims that it is "helping the self-defense capacity of the importing countries." However, the exported weapons were not used for self-defense but for civil war in each of the countries cited. For example, China-supplied weapons helped the Sudanese army to suppress resistance movements and kill civilians, and helped the Burmese army to suppress democratic movements and the Karen people.

Secondly, the CCP states the weapons are not meant to "harm the peace, security and stability of the world and the related areas." However, exporting weapons to Iran, North Korea, and the former Taliban regime in Afghanistan has contributed to regional and even global crises.

Also, the CCP claims that they "their military trade does not interfere with other sovereignties' internal affairs." But in fact, the purpose of the CCP's exporting weapons to Burma, North Korea, and Zimbabwe was to sustain failing despotic rulers in those countries, and enabled them to persecute and kill their own people.

The double standard of the communist regime shows a hypocritical and devious nature. When the entire world is heading towards democracy and peace, the CCP not only adheres to autarchy and dictatorship, but has also brought together five Asian countries to form a so-called "Shanghai Cooperation Organization" (SCO). It wants to see a resurgence of the notorious "Warsaw Treaty Organization" so as to oppose the civilized world to the very end.

The CCP invited Iran's president to a recent SCO summit. To some, this indicated that the CCP wants to pull Iran into the SCO and to offer Iran protection. The Chinese communist regime doesn't appear to be supporting world peace but is instead compromising the safety of China's people. Back

Man Arrested on Criminal Charges for Displaying Kuomintang Flag Back

Around June 4, 2006, Mr. Zhang Qi, a member of the Pan-Blue [1] Coalition in Chongqing City of Sichuan Province and a spirit member of the Kuomintang (KMT), displayed the party flag of the KMT and the national flag of the Republic of China outside of Chongqing's Hongyan Martyrs Tombs during a meeting with his net friends. On June 22, at 11 p.m., Zhang was unexpectedly arrested by Chongqing's National Security Bureau, on criminal charges for the "illegal organization and engaging in an illegal gathering activity." It was reported that a young female named Yun Hai was also summoned.

According to the China-based Pen-Blue Coalition on June 23, 23-year-old Zhang Qi, a recent university graduate, is the administrator of the Pan-blue Coalition in the Chongqing area. He is also a worshiper of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen's "Three Principles of the People." To commemorate the June 4th Incident [Tiananmen Square Massacre], he hoped the Chinese authorities would be able to squarely face the various atrocities they have committed since the atrocity. On June 4, Zhang met with his net friends at the Hongyan Martyrs Tombs in Chongqing and displayed the flag of the KMT and the national flag of the Republic of China, in hopes for universal harmony and peace. He hoped that all the Chinese people would be able to tolerate one another to forge ahead with a gradual political reform in conformity with the mode desired by economic reform, in order to achieve the ultimate goal of a peaceful and democratic unification of China and Taiwan.

Hearing Zhang's case, the spokesman of the Chinese Pan-blue Alliance, Sun Buer, has tried his best to rescue Zhang. When interviewed by The Epoch Times , he said, "The Chinese Pan-blue Coalition is nothing but an Internet community, which has no organizational program and structure. It is simply a community established spontaneously by the Chinese people who believe in the 'Three Principles of the People' to provide the KMT's spiritual members with community services. All of them are volunteer workers. It is indeed ridiculous to refer to them as an 'illegal organization.' Because of the young man's craving for freedom, democracy and peace, he expressed his own wishes by carrying the national flag of the Republic of China. However, such a simple act was forcibly accused by the Chinese authorities as an 'illegal assembly.' Why can't the flag of the KMT and the national flag of the Republic of China be displayed together? "

To rescue Zhang Qi, Sun Buer and overseas pro-democracy activist Chen Rongli have donated 300 yuan (US$37.50) and 2,000 yuan ($250.20) respectively. At the same time, they call on all friends both inside China and overseas to actively help in rescuing Zhang Qi. Back

Altitude Sickness Sets In As Tibet Train Reaches Peak

TANGULA PASS, China - China's inaugural train from Beijing to Tibet passed its highest point on Monday, with many passengers reaching for oxygen tubes to ward off altitude sickness.

As the train climbed, many passengers attached the tubes to their nostrils and announcements warned passengers to avoid sudden movements that could trigger sickness, even in the pressurized cabins.

The train left Beijing on Saturday evening and was due to arrive in Lhasa on Monday night after a 4,000-km (2,500-mile) journey, capping three days of official propaganda about the rail link binding isolated Tibet to the rest of China.

Just after midday, the train rumbled towards the Tangula Pass which, at 5,072 metres (16,640 feet) above sea level, is the peak of the world's highest railway running across the barren Tibetan plateau.

The Tibetan capital, Lhasa, which leaves many visitors gasping for breath, lies at 3,650 metres (11,976 feet).

Communist Party leader, Hu Jintao, called the railway a "miracle" of railway engineering when he officially opened the new line, the China Daily reported on Monday.

But the railway has drawn criticism from advocates of Tibetan autonomy who say the trains will bring an influx of tourists and long-term migrants who threaten Tibet's cultural integrity.

"This railway is really comfortable. You can see beautiful scenery, white clouds, herds of yaks and lots of wild animals," gushed Tibetan Mima Cering, attending the Police Academy in Beijing.

"This railway means that Tibet will be less mysterious to outsiders. Of course, it will have an impact on our culture, but that will happen one day anyway."

China's Communist army occupied the mountain region in 1950. Nine years later, Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, fled to India after a failed uprising.

Ever since, Beijing has maintained tight control of Tibet, fearful that the restive region will challenge Chinese control.

Troops from China's armed militia stood on guard every 500 metres on both sides of the track, as the train sped past snow-capped mountains, barren plains and clusters of yaks and Tibetan antelopes. Back

The Chinese Communist Regime Hides Behind the Mafia
Back

By He Qinglian
The Epoch Times
June 28, 2006

Judging from the cases of human rights violations this month, the Chinese communist Regime acts more and more like a mafia. This tendency is becoming the biggest obstacle for the improvement of human rights in China.

The attitude of the international community towards the communist regime has shown some progress since last year. The change started in Europe, when the new German government took the initiative to improve its relationship with the United States. President Bush met with three Chinese dissidents in May, other western countries have also done the same. Vice-President of the European Parliament, Edward McMillan-Scott publicly announced that the EU will budget 142 million euro (approximately US$ 160 million) to help undemocratic nations improve their human rights.

Unknown Assailants
The CCP regime responded quickly to the West's concerns. However, on June 8, Three Gorges human rights activist, Fu Xiancai, was subpoenaed by the local police department because he revealed the truth about rights abuses when interviewed by a German TV station. After the meeting with police, he was attacked on his way home by unknown ruffians. He was beaten so seriously that he is paralyzed below his shoulders. He was not immediately sent for emergency care.

The ruffians are always "unidentifiable." The situation is similar to that of other dissidents who have, all too often been, attacked by "unknown" assailants in recent years.

The involvement of underworld organizations can create phenomenal psychological pressure on dissidents who are motivated in their struggles by their sense of political mission. They fight against the oppression from the regime. They know who the oppressor is. And they know that normally, for its public image, the regime will limit its oppression, unless it wants to be viewed as a Saddam Hussein type of regime.

On the other hand, the mafia could care less about its image. It will not hesitate to use whatever means it has to increase the fear of its victims. Some brave dissidents can disregard their own lives. However, if the safety of their families is involved, even brave warriors will hesitate.

Whoever cares about the CCP and has concerns about the future of China should consider that such an unrighteous course—ruling a nation by means of the mafia—will not last long and will only arouse conflicts and poison society. Back

Chinese Regime Regulates Satellite Dish Installation Back

By Xin Fei
The Epoch Times Jul 04, 2006

An article from the Guiyang Evening News on June 30 reported that "starting on June 30, Guiyang launched actions against illegal satellite signal receiving devices. Privately installed satellite dishes will be subject to a maximum fine of 50,000 yuan" (about US$6,000). Informants say that other cities in China will issue similar policies to strengthen control of the production, sale and use of satellite TV signal receivers.

Renowned Guiyang Evening News commentator Zeng Ning said in an Epoch Times interview: "This policy will not produce the expected objective. Contrary to the CCP's wishes, the more [lightning] strikes, the bigger the fire, and the more repression, the faster it will spread.

Mr. Zhou pointed out that whenever the CCP faces a serious crisis, it always intensifies its information blockade and other controls to fortify, through its own propaganda systems, the use of nationalism, hatred against perceived enemies, and other initiatives.

CCP Policies Are Above the Law

The Guiyang Evening News reported for private installation, an application must be submitted to the broadcast department, and the devices must be purchased from designated sales locations."

Zhou said, "The CCP had always used deceit and lofty-sounding rhetoric as a pretext for making an attack against the 'enemy,' for instance, citing control of pornography, illegal crimes, etc., as excuses for censoring Internet access. These are simply excuses to hide the real intent—preventing people from knowing the truth and thus maintaining its power."

Popularity of Small Satellite TV Receivers
Zeng said, "It's very popular in the Mainland China to install a personal satellite TV receiver. When traveling by train, one frequently sees satellite dishes on the roofs of houses.

NTDTV Is Very Popular in Mainland China
Zhou added: "The NTDTV audience in China is enormous. The real number is hard to estimate, but conservatively, there are probably several million.

"Because NTDTV is the only Chinese broadcast not encoded, it is very appealing to many audiences in China, and therefore has the interest and attention of many Chinese who are concerned about affairs in China." Back
